Mergram (NA-NA)
Father: N/A Mother: N/A
King of Anduel.
King Mergram revokes the lordship and tax authority of Heldolfen, a small-time lord with estates near Gram Royal, over unpaid taxes and duties.
Lord Hafensera opens his ears to Heldolfen's complaints against King Mergram, believing Hendolfen's situation to be a victim of uncontrollable events and circumstances.
Lord Hafensera convinces Prince Messar, King Mergram's nephew, to join a tax boycott against King Mergram until Heldolfen's lordship and tax authority are restored.
King Mergram refuses to reinstate Heldolfen as a lord, but does not act against Prince Messar or Lord Hafensera so as to not disrupt the 'happy family' image between Prince and King. Messar's tax base is small enough to not be of major consequence to lose out on and Hafensera's tax base is almost more difficult and costly to enforce than its worth considering the religious politics in and around Trahmbeck.
Several Anduel lords formally request King Mergram revoke Lord Hafensera's lordship and tax authority or take some other stern action, citing the unjust situation where they, loyal lords, pay tax to the king while Hafensera does not.
King Mergram's court begins considering the loyal taxpaying Anduel lords' request to act against Lord Hafensera and his growing number of allies more seriously
Lord Hafensera, recognizing the potential for King Mergram to act against him soon, initiates what quickly turns out to be a bloodless coup against the King.
Lord Hafensera and his conspirators convince/force Mergram to abdicate the throne. They convince him that honor and fairness of a single king dictating the tax authority over others' lands is not right and that support for a new look at nobility and rule is justified and backed by enough of Anduel that the king has no other choice but to hand his power to the lords.
Anduel lords that remained loyal to King Mergram tot he end begin to fear the possibility of reprisals from Hafensera and his allies; they organize a resistance to support/reinstate Mergram as King.
The lord of Aaron's Hold is able to raise his levies quickly and begins marching to rendezvous near Trahmbeck to meet with others loyal to King Mergram.
Lord Gorenfold, a Mergram Loyalist, is arrested in his own court without bloodshed or violence by agents of Lord Hafensera's coup, despite the presence of Gorenfold's gathering levies camped outside.
The remaining Mergram Loyalists abandon their attempt to reinstate Mergram's authority.
